Day 30 - Rouen, France
We had a choice of being bussed into Paris or seeing closer areas in Normandy. Having been to Paris a number of times, we chose the latter - and boy are we glad that we did.
So we didn't do much of a job of taking pictures on this day but we did have a wonderful day. We traveled to Normandy and first went to the Camembert facility pictured above. We learned that to be labelled "Camembert" the cheese must be made from the high-fat milk of Norman cows. Of course we then learned what a Norman cow is. They look like they're wearing sunglasses.
Next cam e lunch and we learned that since it was a Sunday, we'd be feasting. We had a great meal - and far more than any of us needed.
The final stop was at a family farm where the primary crop was apples and the products produced were - cider and brandy ... Calvados. We tasted many samples - because we wanted to be good visitors - and then we made a sizable purchase. We're meandering into the brandy world. Actually our friends were very helpful here. Scott and Kori talked me into a Brandy in Barcelona and then Ed and Linda taught us the art of Courvoisier as a nightcap. Thank you both.
