Day 21 - Barcelona, Spain
We were really excited to get to Barcelona where we'd meet up with our friends from Ashland - Kori and Scott Calvert. Over the past few months we'd chatted about our trip and they'd discussed "Paris for their anniversary". Pretty soon the conversation turned to the possibility of then diverting to Barcelona - a spot they'd never been before - and here we are. Below are a few shots of us together - visiting the ship, enjoying beverages - before visiting Sagrada Familia, consuming mucho tapas (after), and generally enjoying ourselves.
Seen one church - you've seen 'em all ... not exactly. The Sagrada Familia is unlike any church I've ever seen. Gaudi's life's (and afterlife's) masterpiece. Begun a century ago, it likely has another quarter of century (or more) before completion. It's current eight spires and future ten more rise majestically while the internal structure is in more fascinating. The arches feel more like tree branches (very organic) than more conventional construction. The play of afternoon light through the stain glass amplified. (Good planning, Scott.)
